How to Use the Maps Application

Click on the image to enlarge it and read the instructions on how to use the Maps application.

If you zoom a lot into a place of the map you may see the background image (terrain) desapear. So if you zoom closer than 7.500 meters you will see the following icon by the name of the layer. To see the layer again you just have to zoom out.


How to Use Google Maps

Here you have two applications to gain deeper knowledge of the KMR and to have the opportunity to interact with Google Maps and create a map representing which are the problems of the city by creating a community map. If you are new to Google Maps you can see an example of how to use Google Maps here.

Layered Google Maps Functionality

You can shuffle between different layers by clicking the "on" and "off" buttons on the top bar. The image below (click to enlarge) has a graphical example.

If you want to know the data of each region just click on it. If you don't know what a variable means you have two options, typing it in the form or clicking on the link to see all of them in a table. You can see a graphical example on the image below (click to enlarge)

Kingston Metropolitan Region Interactive Map

The interactive map can be used in two ways, to know the events which happened in an area or to enlarge the events/issues database by recording new events which will be shown on the map.

To help increasing the ammount of data visible on the map you just have to zoom to the area where the event happened and click there. Then you will se the bubble seen on the image below (click to enlarge). Fill each form, select the kind of event/issue you want to describe and press send. The icon representing your experience will appear inmediately.

Once you have created your icon or if you just want to check what happened somewhere simply click the chosen icon and an informative bubble will appear. You can see what you should observe on the image below (click to enlarge)
